Vital Statistics deals with people rather than things and may be
defined as those records concerned with births, marriages, and deaths.
The staff, located in the City Clerk’s office, provide assistance
with marriage, death and, when appropriate, birth records.
Marriage Applications – If the bride resides within the city
limits, the application and license for marriage is processed in
the Clerk’s office. Please contact the Clerk’s office
if there are other extenuating circumstances.
Marriage Licenses – Only the licenses of marriages ceremonies
held within the city limits are maintained in the Clerk’s office.
If the marriage ceremony is conducted in a location other than Absecon,
the official record is maintained in that municipality.
Birth certificates - are maintained in the office only in the event
the birth actually occurred in the city. Birth Certificates are available
in the Clerks Office of the municipality where the hospital is located.
